Adjusting to a new mattress takes time especially if you had been sleeping on your last mattress for a long time. A period of 1 week is required for your body to adjust to a new level of comfort and support
- Over a period of time, Dust, dander, and dust mites build up in your mattress. You need to vacuum your mattress using your vacuum cleaner.
- Over a period of time, a mattress surface becomes dirty or soiled. Use an upholstery shampoo to clean dirt and soil from your mattress surface. OR just mix a mild detergent with water until formation of suds. Then apply the dry suds only to the soiled area using a sponge and later wipe the area with a sponge that has had warm water wrung from it. Finally, allow the cleansed area to dry thoroughly.
- If there is a stain in your mattress, just use soap and cold water. Apply them lightly and later rub with a white cotton fabric. Avoid usage of dry cleaning fluid since stained chemicals may cause damage to the construction of mattress.
Tips
- To extract maximum mattress performance, you need to turn the mattress end to end and upside down every month during the first six months of use. Later, do the same every three months. All of this allows your mattress adjust smoothly and evenly to your body weight.
- Never allow the interior padding of the mattress to get wet.
- Dry a mattress in open area outside only if it’s warm outside. Else you can use a fan blowing across the mattress surface to insure that it dries quickly.
- Always use a mattress protector to insure that your mattress is kept clean.
Handling Your Mattress
- Avoid bending or folding a mattress.
- Avoid applying excessive heat to a mattress.
- Avoid getting a mattress wet.
- Avoid smoking on a mattress as well as ironing and usage of laptops.
- Never hold or lift a mattress with handles for they are meant for positioning the mattress.
